Buick LaCrosse Hybrid

The 2012 Buick LaCrosse has brought new shoppers into Gary Lang Buick GMC in McHenry, IL. They want to know first hand what Buick looks like today.

Buick also has a LaCrosse hybrid coming, sort of. Before you get overly excited know that the GM company is billing this car as a "hybrid-lite" - since LaCrosse uses Buick's eAssist system instead of a hybrid powertrain. It has an EPA mileage of 25 mpg city, 36 highway

"The 15 horsepower motor-generator is mounted much like an alternator would be placed in other cars. It collects energy via the serpentine belt during braking and adds that 15 horsepower and 79 lb.-ft. of torque during acceleration via that same reinforced beltway," explains Boston.com.1

A base LaCrosse starts around $30,820, with upgrades starting at $33,300, but there's more: audio upgrade ($600 more), driver confidence package ($1,440), nav and backup cam ($1,345); rear-seat entertainment system ($1,295) and metallic paint ($195). Add this all up, and you're well under $40,000 ($38,175) for a high performance sorta-hybrid vehicle.
